Give your child the best opportunity to develop academically, spiritually and socially.
Students who enrol at St Margaret Mary's Merrylands, receive a high-quality education that caters to the whole person and develops each individual student physically, spiritually and academically. We are proud of our supportive and generous community.
A St Margaret Mary's Primary education:
- helps students to be acutely aware of social justice issues affecting our society and world
- encourages students to listen to and act out the Word of God
- gives students the opportunity to lead prayer
- is supported by a very active Parents & Friends (P&F) community
- provides a range of extracurricular activities, including the St Margaret Mary's Primary School Band, 'Minnie Vinnies', student leadership opportunities, the Student Representative Council and the school choir.
Listen, Share, Act
St Margaret Mary's Primary is called to do God’s work in a world that often challenges us as followers of Jesus. We try to be outward looking and reflective as we 'Listen, Share and Act'. We look to the Gospels and Listen. We turn to others and Share the Good News. And we get busy putting this into Action.
We take pride in our school community, and as such, try to care for one another by sharing our faith, and by providing a safe environment where everyone is welcomed and respected.
An engaged community
Our students benefit directly from the way our parent community is involved in the life of our school. This contribution has a significant and lasting impact on our students. From parent involvement in the classroom, tuckshop, library or on working bees, on excursions and carnivals, to their attendance at school Masses and assemblies, St Margaret Mary's students know their efforts and education is valued by our community.
A 21st Century learning environment
St Margaret Mary's Primary is a place where curiosity, imagination and love of learning are treasured. Our school is full of great teachers working together to meet your child’s needs in spaces that are designed for up-to-date learning. There are places for students to work together and for working independently. There are also places where the latest state-of-the-art technology and well-designed facilities support your child’s learning.
St Margaret Mary's Primary is a community of learners, thinkers and achievers, and a safe place for your child to belong, make friends and be cared for.
Inclusive education
Our strong sense of community promotes a sense of belonging and identity for parents, teachers and especially the children. We work to create an environment of genuine care and concern for one another. There are a number of support programs to assist students to reach their full potential including:
- English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Homework Support
- Special Education
Developing independent researchers
At St Margaret Mary's, we are fortunate to have a library which acts as the information centre of the school community where the students learn to manage and use information effectively. We have a large range of fiction and non-fiction books for the students to borrow and enjoy reading and the adjoining computer lab is a valuable resource to our information skills lessons.
